Handmade in Jaipur, Rajasthan the Canar hand embroidered vintage clutch bag has been created using authentic antique tribal textiles. The women in tribal villages hand embroidered their wedding and ceremonial dresses through history.
Using the materials available, of colourful cotton, metallic thread and coins, they lovingly created unique, one-off textiles as individual creative pieces. As times have changed and the old textiles are no longer worn these are sold and re-purposed into contemporary pieces, to be admired and appreciated by a new generation.
This is a special piece for someone who wants to celebrate these ancient artisan skills and the ongoing appreciation of artisanal work of women in India.
